Vortex dynamics in science, nature and technology

24−28 June 2019, SIO, La Jolla, USA

Update: photos posted.

Vorticity has been a central topic in fluid mechanics for 150 years. In the 21st century, vortex dynamics brings together a vibrant community in areas including biomechanics, astrophysics, oceanography, atmospheric sciences, aeronautics, acoustics, condensed matter physics and computational science.

This symposium will bring together researchers from different fields with an emphasis on new techniques, applications and areas of research. Theoretical, computational, experimental and observational approaches will be included.

The organizers would like to thank IUTAM, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the Jacobs School of Engineering, the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and an anonymous donor for their financial support.
