Travel information
San Diego Airport serves all major US airports and a number of international destinations (London, Tokyo, Frankfurt, as well as Canada and Mexico).
La Jolla is approximately 14 miles from the airport. Taxis, Lyft and Uber are available, but public transportation is slow (the #30 and #150 buses go from downtown to La Jolla, while the trolley will arrive in 2021).
There is a train service from Los Angeles to downtown San Diego, with a stop in Solana Beach, from which the #101 bus goes to La Jolla.
Surrounding area
The Forum is on the campus of Scripps Institution of Oceanography. The main UCSD campus is a few miles North. A shuttle runs to it from outside the Forum. There are multiple stores and eateries on the main campus. There is also a remarkable outdoor art collection, the Stuart Collection.
The Birch Aquarium at Scripps is a 10-minute walk up Expedition Way.
From the Forum one can walk South along the beach to Kellogg Park and Avenida de la Playa, which has businesses and restaurants (around 20 minutes' walk). The Village of La Jolla is yet further South (another 30 minute walk at least, or take the #30 bus or drive).
